Northwoods Software Delivers First-to-Market .NET Diagramming Component

Northwoods Software Announces Support for .NET with the Release of GoDiagram for .NET

NASHUA, NH.— February 13, 2002, Northwoods Software announced today that it has completely rewritten its world-class C++ and Java diagramming components in C# to fully support the MicrosoftÒ .NET platform.  Northwoods’ newest component, called GoDiagram for .NET, provides .NET developers with a diagramming component that is both mature in its world-class feature set and well positioned to help developers today save hundreds of hours building similar functionality into their .NET applications. The component is now shipping.

A number of developers have been using early Alpha and Beta versions of Northwoods GoDiagram for .NET component. A Senior Software Engineer from Aegis Technologies Group, Inc, Joey Runyans, had this to say about GoDiagram for .NET, “We found the GoDiagram for .NET tools to be extremely powerful and flexible, and intuitively easy to use.” Runyans continued, “The amount of time and money saved over developing these features ourselves has been tremendous, allowing us to focus on other issues, and ultimately affecting our ability to get to market on time.”

The GoDiagram for .NET library is a set of controls and classes built on the .NET platform. The GoDiagram for .NET library can be used as is, or it can be easily customized and extended to meet the unique needs of a specific application and user. According to Grzegorz Piotrowski, Head of Production Systems for ICN Polfa Rzeszów, Poland, “Our users are technically minded in their discipline but are not necessarily computer oriented. GoDiagram for .NET components have allowed us to develop a new graphical interface to our legacy production control system that makes our application very intuitive to use.” Mr. Piotrowski, further states, “Although the application is still under development it is our belief that GoDiagram for .NET's clean design and ease-of-use features will allow us to pass the pharmaceutical industry regulatory GAMP4 validation requirements with "flying colors".

GoDiagram for .NET makes it easy to deliver editors allowing users to see and intuitively manipulate diagrams of two-dimensional graphical objects arranged in a scrollable window within a managed .NET application.  GoDiagram for .NET has been designed to take full advantage of all of the speed and features that come with developing on the latest Microsoft Visual StudioÒ .NET development system.

According to Walter van Roggen, Director of Engineering at Northwoods. “Development teams are under pressure to build and deploy GUI-oriented .NET applications as quickly as possible.”  To succeed, developers must consider alternatives to building everything in-house (build vs. buy). To make the decision to buy, a developer must have confidence they are buying the best solution. They must have faith that the component represents the highest degree of quality while providing a feature set that enhances the overall application. To this point, van Roggen states, “Northwoods Software has been selling diagramming components to developers for over five years with thousands of satisfied users.”  Prior to starting Northwoods Software in 1995, the four founders spent a total of forty man-years building graphical objects, network and diagram editors.  As a result, the stability and quality of GoDiagram for .NET is extremely high as reflected in the number of customer projects already engaged in using the component inside their early .NET applications.
